07 Апр. 2015 г.Gopro app windows phoneI don't either, but I want it because it's the main reason the younger crowd doesn't consider Windows Phone. Smaller companies are cool with smaller return on investment while bigger ones have larger fish to fry. GoPro has finally updated its Windows Phone app this week, and this new version now adds support for its recently released Hero4 camera, along with a number of other features. I swung by their CES booth to check out what’s happening and if they had any plans for supporting Windows Phone and instead I see a cyan Lumia 920 on display in their Wi-Fi demo area.You can grab the free, official GoPro app for devices on Windows Phone 8 with at least 1GB of RAM. The app was set up, so I couldn’t actually test it out, but was told that functionality would be on par with the iOS and Android version. The Windows Phone app now appears to have feature-parity with the iOS and Android versions of the app. Users will first need to pair and do a firmware update to the GoPro Hero4 before they can begin using it. This feature allows you to overlay your phone’s camera view on top of the GoPro live and take photos that are saved directly to your phone’s camera roll. You probably have been living under a rock if you aren’t familiar with GoPro and their “wearable” cameras. Check out the video below of their newest HERO3 Black Edition (I could watch this over and over and over). I just got a GoPro Hero4 at the beginning of November and this was pissing me off to no end that I couldn't use my phone to connect. Larger companies like Facebook can afford to put a "hold" on developing their very popular apps until enough WP users will complain to Microsoft and Microsoft will finally be willing to pay a large "donation" to such companies so they would start writing the proper WP8 version of same apps ;-) That's the general idea. GoPro is currently working on supporting Windows Phone 8 to work with their newest line of HERO3 cameras. But a more professional application would be to put a ton of GoPro cameras around an event. That's all, there is no agenda here, this just really makes sense for GoPro, I already see a bunch of 920s on the hill and people ask me in the line to the lift what th phone is, because I use it with gloves on and everyone gets curious right away. Manually downloaded the camera update and after installing the app now seems fully functional on my 1320 with the Hero 4. The cameras are those funky little square boxes that have been attached to people doing extreme sports the past few years and have given the internet an endless supply of insane footage from unique viewpoints. We are talking about a few hundred thousand dollars to companies worth billions of dollars. For the people with that use GoPro devices on a regular basis and have Windows Phone this app is killer. We’re slowly starting to see big name apps cross the app gap and come to the land of Live Tiles and Lockscreens. Sounds like a handy feature if you’ve got a handful of GoPros at an event and want to take pictures from one that might be hard to reach. The app is well designed and should be a welcomed addition to any Windows Phone owner rocking a compatible GoPro.  |
