No expense was spared during its development, resulting in a GoPro that is 30% smaller, 25% lighter and 2x more powerful than previous models. The HERO3: White Edition boasts the same high performance specs as the Original HD HERO camera it replaces, yet it has built-in Wi-Fi, new UI and is 30% smaller and 25% lighter. The HERO3 Black Edition features built-in Wi-Fi and includes GoPro's Wi-Fi Remote accessory. Built-in Wi-Fi enables remote control via included Wi-Fi Remote or live video preview and remote control on smartphones and tablets running the free GoPro app. Additionally, the GoPro requires the included waterproof case for mounting, but the Kodak comes with a standard screw mount and is waterproof without the need for an extra case. Then again, you can quite easily link the White Edition to the GoPro app if you need some sort of reference of where you're shooting. The HERO3: White Edition captures professional quality video at 1080p-30, 720p-60, 960p-30 and WVGA-60 resolutions and frame rates. The Kodak also sports a built-in display, which is an $80 accessory for all GoPro cameras called the LCD Touch BacPack. It's a close battle, as the Kodak' trumps the Hero3 White Edition in certain aspects that are important when considering action cameras, while the White Edition betters the Kodak in others. The HERO3: White Edition features built-in Wi-Fi and is compatible with both the Wi-Fi Remote (not included) and the GoPro App. Wearable and gear mountable, waterproof to 197' (60m), capable of capturing ultra-wide 1440p 48fps, 1080p 60 fps and 720p 120 fps video and 12MP photos at a rate of 30 photos per second, the HERO3: Black Edition is the world's most versatile camera.  |
